Frequently Asked Questions – all you want to know about bridesmaids
- How far in advance do I need to order my bridesmaids dresses?
Bridesmaids dresses usually take 8-12 weeks for delivery, a safe amount of time would be 5-6 months before the wear date. This will allow for delivery/production delays and any alterations that may be needed.
- What if my bridesmaid lives out of town?
Simple! (Do not stress about it at all, this is extremely common to have bridesmaids scattered all over the world.) We suggest you order all bridesmaids from one shop, to avoid dyelot or changes in fabric.
So if possible, pick a dress that everyone can view over the web. If they have access to a bridal shop that carries the designer, they should go and try the dress on to confirm style, along with being measured. (As a general courteously bridal shops will usually measure bridesmaids that live out of town for the bride, free of charge) Once the “out of town” bridesmaid has measurements of her bust, waist, hips and height, she can call us toll free and we will assist her in selecting the correct size. Once the dress comes in we will call her and either send the dress to here or store it until she comes in for the wedding.
- What are the average prices of your bridesmaids Dress?
Our bridesmaid dresses range in price from $159 through $450, with the average price being around $220. If the bride purchases her wedding gown at Stella’s Bridal Galleria, her bridal party is entitled to a “special pricing promo”. See shop for details.
- What if my bridesmaids have very different body types?
We suggest you look at separates. There are endless styles to mix and match. From full to sleek, to flatter every figure. Another common solution is to allow your bridesmaids to pick a dress of their choice from your desired designer, but in the same color and fabric.
- What if one of my bridesmaids becomes or is pregnant?
The best style for a pregnant silhouette is an empire. Many designers offer a maternity style. Two other common options are to order material from the designer and to have a dress made, or order a desired style but in many sizes larger and have alterations done close to the wear date.
- Why would my bridesmaids dress need alterations? I was measured by an experienced seamstress/bridal consultant? Shouldn’t it fit perfectly?
Measurements are taken to determine the closest size available and ordered bases on each individual designers size chart. The gowns are not custom made. When determining the size to be ordered we always try for a perfect fit, and if not possible then for the least amount of alterations involved. Alterations are a separate charge.
